1Eterm Background Images 2======================= 3 4The default themes for Eterm are designed to select a background image 5at random. In order for this to work, some sort of mechanism had to 6be created for the creation and maintenance of a set of backgrounds, 7both tileable and scaled. This mechanism had to allow for easy 8selection of the random image as well as easy alterations to the 9collection. 10 11So here's how it works. Underneath this directory (bg/) you'll find 12two subdirectories: tile and scale. These directories contain tiled 13and scaled background images, respectively. When "make install" is 14run, these images are automatically installed in directories with the 15same names underneath <prefix>/share/Eterm/pix/. Once these images 16have been copied into place, the Etbg_update_list utility is run to 17create or update the pixmaps.list file, a text file containing the 18master list of images and their geometries, from which Eterm will 19choose an image at random. 20 21If you wish to add or remove images from the collection, first cd into 22<prefix>/share/Eterm/pix/. Once there, remove any unwanted images 23from the tile/ and/or scale/ directories. Then copy any images you 24want into either the tile/ or scale/ directory, depending on whether 25you want Eterm to tile the image or scale it. When you have finished 26adding and/or removing images, run the Etbg_update_list script again 27(it is found in <prefix>/bin/) to update the list. 28 29You may have as many or as few images in your collection as you like; 30just remember to re-run the Etbg_update_list script after completing 31each set of changes. Note that if you have fewer than 2 images in the 32collection, you should edit the theme.cfg file for your theme to 33deactivate the random image selection. (If you neglect to do this, 34you may receive error messages from Eterm, but it will continue to 35function.) 36 37 38Disclaimer 39---------- 40 41Most images distributed with Eterm and its supplementary backgrounds 42collection were contributed by their respective authors. In fact, 43most of these images are original work by me. Two images have unknown 44copyright but are believed to be in the public domain. 45 46However, should any person who can provide proof of ownership of any 47of these pictures object to their inclusion, they will be IMMEDIATELY 48withdrawn. No copyright infringement is intended. Inclusion here 49should be taken as a compliment. :-) 50 51 52Contributors 53------------ 54 55The following contributions have been made by their authors. Thanks 56to all who have contributed. If one of your images is in this 57collection, but it isn't reflected here, please e-mail me 58(mej@eterm.org) so I can correct the omission. Note that some of 59these images are included with the supplemental backgrounds 60collection, others with the Eterm distribution. 61 62All images are copyright their respective authors and are included 63here by permission. 64 65Neopolis-horizon.jpg Joe Colburn <joe@nodomain.com> 66acid_chess.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 67a_distant_star.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 68alpha_centauri.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 69army_brat.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 70bubbly1.jpg Tal Danzig <tal@libranet.com> 71bubbly2.jpg Tal Danzig <tal@libranet.com> 72bubbly3.jpg Tal Danzig <tal@libranet.com> 73bubbly4.jpg Tal Danzig <tal@libranet.com> 74circuit.jpg Public Domain 75cold_steel.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 76conch.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 77confusion.jpg Tal Danzig <tal@libranet.com> 78connect_the_dots.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 79cyber_bg.jpg Joe Colburn <joe@nodomain.com> 80darkness.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 81day-night.jpg Ted Zlatanov <tzz@lifelogs.com> 82falling.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 83fascination.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 84firestorm.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 85for_a_moment.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 86graffiti.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 87gray_matter.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 88lightning_crashes.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 89marbles.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 90midnight_sky.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 91moody_blues.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 92murky_depths.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 93oil_on_canvas.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 94pebble_beach.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 95ping-pong.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 96plasma.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 97pulse.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 98rolling_meadows.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 99sailors_delight.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 100shades_of_being.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 101shale.jpg Public Domain 102shattered_windows.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 103shock_and_awe.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 104sitting_in_acid.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 105spring_rain.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 106stained_glass.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 107tales_of_earthsea.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 108tangled_web.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 109the_wall.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 110trees_are_leafy.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 111veins_2.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 112veins.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 113violetta.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 114wasteland.jpg Brian McFee <keebler@sandwich.net> 115water_into_wine.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 116wintertree.jpg Ted Zlatanov <tzz@lifelogs.com> 117wormhole.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 118woven_memories.png Michael Jennings <mej@eterm.org> 119
