1jade and sp for Debian 2---------------------- 3 4This document covers the Debian version of Jade and the SP suite. 5Note that we use the version of SP which ships with the Jade sources, 6which is slightly newer than the SP which ship standalone. 7 8Note that the default search paths compiled into this system are 9equivalent to setting the following environment variables as shown: 10 11 SGML_CATALOG_FILES="%{default-catalogs}" 12 SGML_SEARCH_PATH="%{default-sgml-path}" 13 14You can override this by setting these variables yourself, i.e., in 15~/.profile or /etc/environment. 16 17If you are validating or processing XML, you want to run the command 18with the XML declaration. The upstream documentation talks about 19xml.soc, which is located in %{sgml-dir}/declaration/xml.soc, 20but you can also run it like so: 21 nsgmls <other-args> %{sgml-dir}/declaration/xml.dcl <xml-file> 22or 23 jade <other-args> %{sgml-dir}/declaration/xml.dcl <xml-file> 24as appropriate. 25 26For information on using these packages, see the included HTML 27documentation. It also includes links to other sites, for more 28information about SGML or DSSSL. However, a new group 42has undertaken to continue to improve and maintain Jade under the name 43OpenJade. This software is not yet released, but they have already 44produced some documentation, etc. See 45<URL:http://www.netfolder.com/DSSSL/>. 46 47No package is an island; true to this dictum, the jade and sp packages 48increase value in conjunction with the following packages: 49 50 * sgml-base (required) provides essential Debian SGML infrastructure 51 * sgml-data (suggested) contains standard HTML and entities 52 * doc-base (suggested) provides documentation infrastructure used for 53 this package's documentatation 54 * sp-dev Static library and include files for SP 55 * jadetex LaTeX macros for SGML to DVI/PS conversion with jade 56 * psgml Nifty Emacs mode for editing SGML documents 57 * sdc SDC is an alternate SGML formatter not using DSSSL 58 * debiandoc-sgml A formatter for Debian documents 59 * sgml-tools A formatter for linuxdoc documents 60 * docbook An SGML DTD for software documentation 61 * docbook-stylesheets Stylesheets for printing and converting DocBook 62 63.....A.
