7The hikari community is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for
8everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual
9orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. We
10do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form.

12This code of conduct applies to all hikari sponsored spaces, including our blog,
13mailing lists, and wiki, as well as any other spaces that hikari hosts, both
14online and off. Anyone who violates this code of conduct may be sanctioned or
15expelled from these spaces at the discretion of the hikari Anti-Abuse Team.

17Some hikari-sponsored spaces may have additional rules in place, which will be
18made clearly available to participants. Participants are responsible for knowing
19and abiding by these rules.

24Harassment includes:

26* Offensive comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual
27  orientation, disability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicality, physical
28  appearance, body size, race, or religion
29* Unwelcome comments regarding a person’s lifestyle choices and practices,
30  including those related to food, health, parenting, drugs, and employment.
31* Deliberate misgendering or use of ‘dead’ or rejected names
32* Gratuitous or off-topic sexual images or behaviour  in spaces where they’re
33  not appropriate
34* Physical contact and simulated physical contact (eg, textual descriptions like
35  “*hug*” or “*backrub*”) without consent or after a request to stop.
36* Threats of violence
37* Incitement of violence towards any individual, including encouraging a person
38  to commit suicide or to engage in self-harm
39* Deliberate intimidation
40* Stalking or following
41* Harassing photography or recording, including logging online activity for
42  harassment purposes
43* Sustained disruption of discussion
44* Unwelcome sexual attention
45* Pattern of inappropriate social contact, such as requesting/assuming
46  inappropriate levels of intimacy with others
47* Continued one-on-one communication after requests to cease
48* Deliberate “outing” of any aspect of a person’s identity without their consent
49  except as necessary to protect other hikari members or other vulnerable people

53The hikari community prioritizes marginalized people’s safety over
54privileged people’s comfort. The hikari Anti-Abuse Team will not act on
55complaints regarding:

57* ‘Reverse’ -isms, including ‘reverse racism,’ ‘reverse sexism,’ and ‘cisphobia’
58  (because these things don’t exist)
59* Reasonable communication of boundaries, such as “leave me alone,” “go away,”
60  or “I’m not discussing this with you.”
61* Refusal to explain or debate social justice concepts
62* Communicating in a ‘tone’ you don’t find congenial
63* Criticizing racist, sexist, cissexist, or otherwise oppressive behavior or
64  assumptions

69If you are being harassed by a member of the hikari community, notice that
70someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a
71community moderator and/or administrator. If the person who is harassing you is
72on the team, they will recuse themselves from handling your incident. We will
73respond as promptly as we can.

75This code of conduct applies to hikari sponsored spaces, but if you are being
76harassed by a member of the hikari community outside our spaces, we still want
77to know about it. We will take all good-faith reports of harassment by hikari
78community members, especially bloggers, seriously. This includes harassment
79outside our spaces and harassment that took place at any point in time.The abuse
80team reserves the right to exclude people from the hikari community based on
81their past behavior, including behavior outside hikari spaces and behavior
82towards people who are not in the hikari community.

84In order to protect volunteers from abuse and burnout, we reserve the right to
85reject any report we believe to have been made in bad faith. The hikari
86Anti-Abuse Team is not here to explain power differentials or other basic social
87justice concepts to you. Reports intended to silence legitimate criticism may be
88deleted without response.

90We will respect confidentiality requests for the purpose of protecting victims
91of abuse. At our discretion, we may publicly name a person about whom we’ve
92received harassment complaints, or privately warn third parties about them, if
93we believe that doing so will increase the safety of hikari members or the
94general public. We will not name harassment victims without their affirmative
95consent. Consequences

97Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply
98immediately.

100If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the hikari Anti-Abuse Team may
101take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from all
102hikari spaces and identification of the participant as a harasser to other
103hikari members or the general public.
