.... Set up some character translations and predefined strings. \*(-- will
give an unbreakable dash, \*(PI will give pi, \*(L" will give a left
double quote, and \*(R" will give a right double quote. \*(C+ will
give a nicer C++. Capital omega is used to do unbreakable dashes and
therefore won't be available. \*(C` and \*(C' expand to `' in nroff,
nothing in troff, for use with C<>.

Escape single quotes in literal strings from groff's Unicode transform.
If the F register is >0, we'll generate index entries on stderr for
titles (.TH), headers (.SH), subsections (.SS), items (.Ip), and index
entries marked with X<> in POD. Of course, you'll have to process the
output yourself in some meaningful fashion.
Avoid warning from groff about undefined register 'F'.

Title "SSL_CTX_ADD_EXTRA_CHAIN_CERT 3"
way too many mistakes in technical documents.
\fBSSL_CTX_clear_extra_chain_certs() clears all extra chain certificates associated with ctx.
These functions are implemented as macros.
If no chain is specified, the library will try to complete the chain from the available \s-1CA\s0 certificates in the trusted \s-1CA\s0 storage, see \fBSSL_CTX_load_verify_locations\|(3).
The x509 certificate provided to SSL_CTX_add_extra_chain_cert() will be freed by the library when the \s-1SSL_CTX\s0 is destroyed. An application \fBshould not free the x509 object.
