It can be put in ``old-style'' user-interface compatibility 94mode (in which case it shows a simple `\*[Gt]' prompt), but this is essentially 95useless. However, by default the rom runs in old-mode; to enter new-mode type `n'. 96The rom then shows a Forth-style `ok' prompt. It is recommended to have 97the rom always start in its native ``new-style'' mode. Utter the following 98incantation in new-mode to force the rom to always start in new-mode. 99.Pp 100.Pa \ ok 101setenv sunmon-compat? false 102.Pp 103The rom will normally load the kernel from "sd(0,0,0)vmunix". To change the 104default so that 105.Nx 106will be loaded type the following 107.Pp 108.Pa \ ok 109setenv boot-from sd(0,0,0)netbsd 110.Pp 111At any time you can break back to the rom by pressing the `L1' and `a' 112keys at the same time (if the console is a serial port the same is 113achieved by sending a `break'). 114If you do this accidentally you can continue whatever was in progress 115by typing `go'. 116.Sh FILES 117.Bl -tag -width /netbsdxx -compact 118.It Pa /netbsd 119system code 120.It Pa /boot 121system bootstrap 122.El 123.Sh SEE ALSO 124.Xr crash 8 , 125.Xr disklabel 8 , 126.Xr fsck 8 , 127.Xr halt 8 , 128.Xr init 8 , 129.Xr installboot 8 , 130.Xr rc 8 , 131.Xr shutdown 8 , 132.Xr syslogd 8 133
