2Biber is a BibTeX replacement for users of biblatex, with full Unicode
3support.

5 * Please note - the default download for all platforms is 64-bit. Please
6 look in the files section for the correct 32-bit platform instead of
7 using the default download button if you want 32-bit.

9REQUIREMENTS

11 Biber is written in Perl with the aim of providing a
12 customised and sophisticated data preparation backend for biblatex.

14 You do not need to install Perl use biber--binaries
15 are provided for many operating systems via the main TeX
16 distributions (TeXLive, MacTeX, MiKTeX) and also via download from SourceForge.

18 You only need a Perl installation to use biber in one of the following
19 cases:

21 * A binary version is not available for your OS/platform
22 * You wish to keep up with all of the bleeding-edge git commits before
23 they are packaged into a binary.

25 For the vast majority of users, using the latest binary for the
26 OS/platform you are using will be what you want to do. For details on the
27 requirements for installing the Perl program version, please see the
28 biber PDF documentation.
