1#NEXUS 2[R-package APE, Fri Nov 27 00:49:56 2009 3 4 This data set describes the phylogenetic relationships of the 5 orders of birds as reported by Sibley and Ahlquist (1990). Sibley 6 and Ahlquist inferred this phylogeny from an extensive number of 7 DNA/DNA hybridization experiments. The ``tapestry'' reported by 8 these two authors (more than 1000 species out of the ca. 9000 9 extant bird species) generated a lot of debates. 10 11 The present tree is based on the relationships among orders. The 12 branch lengths were calculated from the values of Delta T50H as 13 found in Sibley and Ahlquist (1990, fig. 353). 14 15] 16 17BEGIN TAXA; 18 DIMENSIONS NTAX = 23; 19 TAXLABELS 20 Struthioniformes 21 Tinamiformes 22 Craciformes 23 Galliformes 24 Anseriformes 25 Turniciformes 26 Piciformes 27 Galbuliformes 28 Bucerotiformes 29 Upupiformes 30 Trogoniformes 31 Coraciiformes 32 Coliiformes 33 Cuculiformes 34 Psittaciformes 35 Apodiformes 36 Trochiliformes 37 Musophagiformes 38 Strigiformes 39 Columbiformes 40 Gruiformes 41 Ciconiiformes 42 Passeriformes 43 ; 44END; 45BEGIN TREES; 46 TRANSLATE 47 1 Struthioniformes, 48 2 Tinamiformes, 49 3 Craciformes, 50 4 Galliformes, 51 5 Anseriformes, 52 6 Turniciformes, 53 7 Piciformes, 54 8 Galbuliformes, 55 9 Bucerotiformes, 56 10 Upupiformes, 57 11 Trogoniformes, 58 12 Coraciiformes, 59 13 Coliiformes, 60 14 Cuculiformes, 61 15 Psittaciformes, 62 16 Apodiformes, 63 17 Trochiliformes, 64 18 Musophagiformes, 65 19 Strigiformes, 66 20 Columbiformes, 67 21 Gruiformes, 68 22 Ciconiiformes, 69 23 Passeriformes 70 ; 71 TREE * UNTITLED = [&R] (((1:21.8,2:21.8):4.1,((3:21.6,4:21.6):1.3,5:22.9):3):2.1,(6:27,(7:26.3,((8:24.4,((9:20.8,10:20.8):2.6,(11:22.1,12:22.1):1.3):1):0.6,(13:24.5,(14:23.7,(15:23.1,(((16:21.3,17:21.3):0.6,(18:20.4,19:20.4):1.5):0.6,((20:20.8,(21:20.1,22:20.1):0.7):0.8,23:21.6):0.9):0.6):0.6):0.8):0.5):1.3):0.7):1); 72END; 73
