65properties.  Ambient is how lit the object is on parts of the object that

67aren't in direct illumination, so long as there is some ambient illumination

73lights as a specular shine (like on a polished apple).  Shininess is how

83Now, a scene can have its own ambient, diffuse, and specular properties in

85the lighting alone.  Why would you need material properties?  Picture, if

87you will, fogged glass.  How much diffuse light will fogged glass reflect?  Not

173biased towards brown.  Sand, toward yellow, and so forth.  Diffuse is the
